  • Lenten study groups are starting! Plan on joining one of these engaging small group studies:
    • Rev. Del Roper will be leading a Lenten Bible Study over Renegade Gospel by Mike Slaughter at Alice Kistler’s house at 523 W. 9th. It takes place  Mondays at 9 am. Coffee and rolls will be served. Please contact Alice at 382-5031.
    • Pastor Karla will be leading 24 Hours That Changed the World by Adam Hamilton. In this Lenten journey, it guides students through the last twenty-four hours of Jesus’ life. Each chapter is designed to help the reader experience and understand the significance of Jesus’ suffering and death in a way you have never done before. Whether readers are long-time Christians or simply curious about the story of Christ’s crucifixion, they are invited to join! It will run Tuesdays from 1:00-2:15 pm in Trinity’s Youth Room.
    • Pastor Theresa will be leading a lenten biblical study on Give it Up! by Dottie Escobedo-Frank. This Lenten study reflects on all the things that hold the attention, occupy the mind and time yet still isolate us from God and the world around us. Things like social media, phones, the noise of life, and focus on the external. Imagine taking on the challenge of giving up each of these for a week. Escobedo-Frank takes the reader on a journey of self-discovery, where he or she learns that the power of release brings great gain. The biggest gain is a stronger relationship with Christ. In the release, each person is freed to “give it up” in applause and praise for a life deeply lived in Christ. It is held Wednesdays at 9:30 am in the Trinity Youth Room. The group welcomes new participants.
    • ReCharge Young Adult group will be studying “Final Words From the Cross” by Adam Hamilton on Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. in Trinity‘s Conference Room. In this study, Hamilton explores Jesus’ final words as seen and heard through the eyes and ears of those who stood near the cross. Each chapter begins with a biblical account followed by a first-person story as might have been told from the viewpoint of one of the characters at the cross. Then the chapter explores the meaning of Jesus’ dying words for our lives today.
    • Pastor Darren will be leading Adam Hamilton’s The Way, a Lenten study using historical information, archaeological data, and stories of the faith. Hamilton follows in the footsteps of Jesus from his baptism to the temptations to the heart of his ministry, including the people he loved, the parables he taught, the enemies he made, and the healing he brought. This 40-day focus will help you and your group grow deeper in their faith, learn more about the life of Christ, spend time daily reading and reflecting upon the Scriptures, and invite families, through the children’s and youth studies, to grow together in their faith on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room at First-Faith UMC.
    • Pastor Matt will be finishing up Confronting the Controversies by Adam Hamilton at the Beckmans’ on Sundays at 6:30 pm. If there is interest, Pastor Matt will lead another session of this study during Lent (contact him directly).
  • Trinity’s Children Choir practice meets on Sundays at 10:30 am in Room 8. The children will be working with our very own Dane Christensen who was just named “Outstanding Young Director of the Year for 2014” by the Nebraska Choral Directors Association! The children will be singing in church on Palm Sunday, March 29th. There will not be any Sunday School on Easter Sunday and children are invited to join their families for worship on April 5th.
  • Trinity UMC is ordering name tags! The Evangelism Committee is encouraging everyone to order their own name tag. It will help everyone feel more comfortable calling our fellow attendees by name, and our ministers can get to know our names as well. This will especially be helpful as we get new pastors! Trinity would like each congregation member, children included, to have a name tag. Trinity will be providing them at no cost to you for the first one, you can choose magnetic or pin back and a place will be provided at the church to store your name tag if you wish. You can print off a form here or email your choice of magnetic back or pin back, and how you would like your name to read on your name tag to Make sure to include all family members!

Dinner 4 Fun is people sharing a meal, making new friends, renewing old friendships, and getting to know one another. It is for singles, couples and families. Do you like to cook? OK! If you don’t like to cook, deli food or take-out works also! If you can’t host or be a leader, there are other ways to share in the fun. The hope is that each group will meet together 4 times. Each group will have a leader to organize the group and keep it going, you meet when it works for your group. Your group can plan an after meal activity, such as games, visiting, watching sports, or playing cards, it is up to your group to decide.
