Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON) is a United Methodist ministry offering free quality immigration legal assistance to people in communities across Nebraska. I’ve been working to bring this ministry to Grand Island. I do this because we are reminded continually throughout the Bible to care for and welcome the foreigner (check out Exodus 22 or the radical nature of the Good Samaritan). The US immigration process is one that is lengthy, costly, and sometimes cruel to the wholeness of families. Through this ministry, we have great potential to be a hospitable presence to those going through this grueling process: offering clarity, love, and dignity. We are now looking for volunteers who feel called to this type of ministry and are looking for someone to donate snacks, to help with childcare, and welcome people into the church. Contact me if you’re interested.
