In May, we welcomed our 2012 UM4GI summer ministry interns: Albert Longe Otshudi and Kathryn Cunningham.
The main purpose of these internships is learning: the interns learn about church ministry, God, and themselves; and the rest of us learn through our interactions with the interns. Here are some of the specific things the interns will be doing:
- Youth and children’s ministry
- Wacky Wednesday
- two VBS sessions
- Denver Mission trip
- Pastoral shadowing and reflection
- Worship and small group leadership
Albert is from the Democratic Republic of Congo and just graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from Africa University in Zimbabwe. He is concerned with environmentalism with particular interests in climate change and the conservation of natural resources – especially through organic farming practices.
Kathryn is a recent graduate of Hastings College and a new member of Trinity UMC. This is her second year participating in this internship. After the summer internship concludes, she will spend a year in Belfast, Ireland through the Presbyterian Church USA’s Young Adult Volunteer Program.
Be sure to get to know our new interns as they embark on a journey of ministry with our three UM4GI congregations.
