The Wesley brothers had it right, I think. They went to where people were, to where life and all of its challenges seemed most present. They went outside the church and met the people and their circumstances. John preached outside and Charles (arguably, though I’ve already made this point) wrote song lyrics to popular pub songs. And they reached people!
In an effort to meet people where they are, I will be starting a once-monthly faith-talk in the community on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 8pm at Nathan Detroit on Pine Street downtown. Draughts of Faith is an opportunity to talk about faith and theology in an informal setting in the community. Please come as you are, invite friends, and be spiritually fed!
