Vacation Post #1

It’s been quite a few days here in California!  As many of you know, we had to adjust our trip at the last minute in order to attend a Celebration of Life for a dear friend who tragically lost her life.  Because of the impact of the event in the community, the service was covered by local news.

The service was full of laughter and tears and fond memories.  Truly, it was an amazing and unforgettable celebration of life for one who was amazing and unforgettable.

The next day, we worshiped in the same church (Simi Valley UMC) and enjoyed their annual music celebration.  Not only did we hear from their fantastic traditional choir, we experienced praise music from a youth band, the youth choir, children’s choir, and amazing pieces from adult and youth handbell choirs.  What a joy!

The next day we went to Disneyland to celebrate a friend’s birthday.  Our boys enjoyed creating new memories along with a large group of friends, and we continued the celebration of life that we began just a few days earlier.  That night we stayed in a friend’s camper in a beautiful campground and had some downtime.

I left the family there to begin preparation for the annual meeting for the California-Pacific Annual Conference at the University of Redlands in sunny Southern California where I am responsible for legislation.  Oh, and I’m being commissioned too.  So much to think about!

Many blessings to you all as you continue in ministry for Grand Island.  I’ll see you soon!
