From Pastor Theresa: Thoughts on New Starts

In August, my husband John LeCompte and I will be taking our daughter, Mozelle to start college at Central Community College in Columbus. As she starts college at Columbus and as other students start or return to college, high school, middle school, or elementary school, I am reminded that when I was chaplain and associate professor of religion at Hamline University (a United Methodist related university) Larry Osnes who was the president, established the tradition of saying words attributed to John Wesley to the incoming class of new students on their first day:
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.

These wise words are fitting for all students starting school. They are fitting words for the rest of us too.
Peace and grace,
Rev. Theresa Mason
