In the midst of hearing God’s call again and leading change in our church communities, there can be much anxiety. As Bill Selby reminded us: “Anxiety can only be maintained if it’s fed.” That was the struggle our leaders of Trinity and First-Faith wrestled with during their leadership seminar in mid-January. How can we, as churches, go through much change and still be centered and at peace when all else feels like chaos? If we feed into the anxiety, the fear takes on its own life and we do not talk about the deeper issues. But, if we stop and immerse ourselves into the spiritual life, we can be healthier for it–our churches can be healthier for it. Are you feeding the anxiety which pervades our lives or are you taking time in prayer, meditation, silence, or study?
